If not it could be costing you money already. SEO paves the way forwards, but if you are not tracking where you&#8217;re at and what you need to do to improve an update like this could push you all the way to the back of the pack.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Core Updates? We know Google makes several updates every year that make changes to their search algorithmic and systems, Google calls them, Core Updates, Can&#8217;t beat them so let&#8217;s just join them.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The May 2020 Core Updates are here in the midst of the Corona pandemic, it&#8217;s sure to be memorable.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It&#8217;s now time to review your analytics to see if the Update had an impact on your site. By now you would already noticed if it had a negative or positive impact on your business.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It may be nothing to fix on your site after core updates. We know those with sites that experience drops will be looking to fix the problem and we want to make sure they don&#8217;t try to fix the wrong things.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The question is what has changed and what we need to do to rank better on Google after core updates. It is not always easy to isolate what you need to do to reverse any algorithmic impact your sites may have seen. So if your site was affected by a core update it is recommended to take a step back from it all, take a wider view of your overall website and see what you can improve on your site.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To rank great in Google we know the site content it&#8217;s important so after an update let&#8217;s focus on offering amazing content that also rewards our algorithms.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>*Have great content that is based on Google ranks guidelines<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Page Quality is determined by a number of factors how well the content meets the purpose of the pages. Main Content quality and information.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You can also self assess if your website content is helping you in your quest to be on page 1 or whether is penalising you. These are a few questions you can ask yourself:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Expertise questions<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Does the content provide original information, reporting, research or analysis?<\/li>\r\n<li>Does the content provide a substantial, complete or comprehensive description of the topic?<\/li>\r\n<li>Does the content provide insightful analysis or interesting information that is beyond obvious?<\/li>\r\n<li>If the content draws on other sources, does it avoid simply copying or rewriting those sources and instead provide substantial additional value and originality?<\/li>\r\n<li>Does the headline and\/or page title provide a descriptive, helpful summary of the content?<\/li>\r\n<li>Does the headline and\/or page title avoid being exaggerating or shocking in nature?<\/li>\r\n<li>Is this the sort of page you\u2019d want to bookmark, share with a friend, or recommend?<\/li>\r\n<li>Would you expect to see this content in or referenced by a printed magazine, encyclopedia or book?<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Presentation and production question<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Is the content free from spelling or stylistic issues?<\/li>\r\n<li>Was the content produced well, or does it appear sloppy or hastily produced?<\/li>\r\n<li>Is the content mass-produced by or outsourced to a large number of creators, or spread across a large network of sites, so that individual pages or sites don\u2019t get as much attention or care?<\/li>\r\n<li>Does the content have an excessive amount of ads that distract from or interfere with the main content?<\/li>\r\n<li>Does content display well for mobile devices when viewed on them?<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Compare questions<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Does the content provide substantial value when compared to other pages in search results?<\/li>\r\n<li>Does the content seem to be serving the genuine interests of visitors to the site, or does it seem to exist solely by someone attempting to guess what might rank well in search engines?<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It is excellent that we can ask these questions to self assess. From our experience, to have others you trust who are unaffiliated with your site provide an honest assessment.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In Particular, raters are trained to understand if the content has what we call a strong E-A-T. We believe that E-A-T is very important to most sites.
